Tyler Jordan Gentry, 13, passed away from this earth on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at home with his family.

He was born October 15, 1995 in Roanoke Rapids. During his short life on earth he touched many hearts and warmed many others. Tyler was loved by many who got to know him. He loved to hunt, go fast, listen to music, ride his four-wheeler in the mud, surf at the beach and be around his family. Tyler was a wonderful grandson, son, brother, nephew and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his Mama and Papa, Cindy and Harry Gentry; his two brothers, Taylor Gentry and Ryan Gentry; his sister, Trinity Gentry; his uncles and aunts, Billy and Candice Gentry and Aaron and Kelly Gentry; Summer Gentry; a cousin, Cooper Gentry, all of Roanoke Rapids; and two special teachers who taught Tyler, Mrs. Tickel and Mrs. Davis.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 7. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Sue Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Mrs. Tickel, Exceptional Childrens Classroom at Belmont Elementary School, 1517 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870. Please make checks payable to Belmont Elementary School.
